By far scarier than any Texas institution I've seen or am aware of, on the county level... Far smaller than say, Dallas or Tarrant counties.
You get arrested in Love County/Marietta.. there is no city jail. You bypass that and get taken to this rural hell of a county jail.
Inmates get no commissary. No day room, no TV, nowhere to exercise or get out. They're housed in cramped, overcrowded, dirty and freezing cold cells, made up of 3 tiny connected rooms. All meals are served through a thin slot in the main cell door. Besides the males lucky enough to be outside trustees, these people do not get out of their cells, ever, once they're settled in, except for emergencies and court dates I think.
I will say they (guards) don't give a f--- what happens inside the cells. So it's not unheard of for inmates to trade their pharmaceuticals the jailer slips em through the slot daily, or for trustees to sneak in cigarettes to smoke. Nothing too crazy but that probably wouldn't happen in the "big city."
Bottom line... Don't f--- around in love county. Not where you'd want to be locked up.
If someone you care about is in here, they're bondable and they don't pose a threat to society... Please, get em out. ASAP.
